Ten Years Of Dreams

El Pozo began as a dream over 10 years ago. Since then, God has used El Pozo to change the lives of countless college students here in Puebla, Mexico. To celebrate our 10 years of serving God we want to continue dreaming big and bless others while doing it. This year we want to provide 10 houses for families in need over holy week (March 29-April 3).

For the past 7 years El Pozo has taken a group of students to north Mexico on a mission to build a house for a family in need alongside our friends at Casas Por Cristo. Two years ago we went from building one house to two and this year we dream of being a blessing to not just one or two families but ten. One for each year we have been ministering to college students.

Many of our students here think we are crazy and maybe you do, too. When we tell them we are going to provide 10 houses and need 100 people plus $100,000 to do it, most don't believe it is possible. Most have never personally experienced God work in such big ways, and we want to give them that experience. Every year that we have taken this trip, our students come back changed. For some it is noticeable right away and for others the changes are more subtle, but they are changed. They learn what it is like to give instead of receive, live without the comforts of home for a few days and see the struggles first hand that many families not far from them have to deal with on a daily basis. But more important than all of that is the ways they see God live and active in the world today, using them to make a difference and bringing his kingdom here on earth.

We would like to invite you to be a part of this dream. As I mentioned earlier we need 100 people and $100,000. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside El Pozo students and staff (past and present) as well as other supporters and lovers of the ministry in bringing God's kingdom to earth. I believe that this dream is going to change lives physically and spiritually forever. Whether part of the giving or the receiving, God has his ways of showing up in a personal, life-changing, real way. We at El Pozo are excited to see God show off and use us ordinary people to make a big difference as we celebrate ten wonderful years of ministry.

The kingdom of God is like...

Jesus talked a lot about the kingdom of God. I mean a lot. So if it was so important that he talked about it all the time, what does that mean for us today?

Here at El Pozo we have been asking ourselves that same question and posing it to our students as well. We just finished a three part series based on the kingdom of God...three weeks that boiled down to deciding to live under the reign of God in his kingdom, dreaming huge about what God can use us for to expand and grow this kingdom and then doing something about it all, serving God with our talents and gifts and enjoyments of life.

So what does that look like at El Pozo?

Alice and Chuchu will continue to invite and bring their fellow volleyball teammates every Tuesday to En Vivo because they dream of the day when every girl on the team loves Jesus more than anything else in the world.

Frank will continue to study, learn and apply his passion for business and politics on a small scale in the university because he dreams of the day he will be able to change the lives of all mexican citizens, not just the rich, on a much greater scale.

Jessica will keep going to the hospital every week to get hands on experience while she studies her nursing degree so that when she finishes school, she will be equipped to open her own hospital for the "least of these" that she comes in contact with on a daily basis.

And Tote will continue to show up every week to read the bible and learn about Jesus for the first time because you believed in being a part of the kingdom of God and are living it out through your support of El Pozo.

Kitchens for the hungry, music for the weary hearted, churches for the indigenous people in their own language...these and so much more are the dreams of our students. Some seem many years away but everyday, the decisions they make are opportunities to prepare them for the day when their God sized dreams become a reality.

Pray with us for our students as they embark on their own dreams while continuing to be part of an ongoing one called Globalscope, college campus ministries all around the world.
